El Miguel: Chilean Pop Folk Singer and great artist

El Miguel Sexual Democracia.

Miguel Barriga was born in Quirihue, but was in Valdivia where he founded the Sexual Democracia proyect , at the Austral University during the democracy transition process in Chile (1988). Today his name is El Miguel Sexual Democracia

Miguel is author and composer all songs. He created a unique rock, pop style and a little of folk which contains some humors touches in all of its songs.

He was widely known through songs like ¨El Pituto¨, ¨Profanador de Cunas¨, ¨Los Bomberos¨, ¨Ekeko¨, ¨Guaracha Nuí¨, ¨Valdivia Capital¨, ¨Ella gana más plata que yo¨, ¨Chilean kangaroo¨¨ among other songs, which began to be played on the few radios preferenty smalvilles of Chili and internet now.

Miguel Barriga recorded 13 disc and albums +1 DVD: ¨Los Chicos Buenos¨,¨Buscando Chilenos 1, 2, 3¨, ¨Sudamérica Suda¨, ¨Hueveuz¨, ¨Maconduz¨, ¨Humor Sureño¨, ¨SXD.cl¨; ¨Me querrás igual?¨, ¨Canciones pícaras para los asados¨, DVD + CD ¨Me creerás igual¨ recently.

This fame made them receive several invitations like Viña del Mar Festival 1992, and they were also invited to record in Mexico with ¨Los Angeles Negros¨’, Australia in 2003, he record whit Luisin Landaez (a famous venezolan singer whose famous song ‘Macondo’ based on García Marquez Novel), and several groups and singers of Chile, is still danced to in parties.

Miguel Barriga whit Sexual Democracia proyect was reorganized twice by the Journalist Associations ‘APES’ this award is commonly given to the most important exponent in different artistic categories in our country. Miguel is famous in many countries and Chilean residents in those countries enjoy themselves with its music by internet.

As time went by tastes in music started to change and radios didn’t help Miguel was left alone in this project. But his self-encouragement and perseverance didn’t let him fall apart. On the country he went on creating his music.

His new creations under the same humorous, ironic and social line. This proyect is for 2008 and celebrate 20 years.

Now a days Miguel and solist proyect is on a tour around many cities playing El Miguel Sexual Democracia’s new song whit the new record "20 años no es nada es Demasiado Tour" and old hits reviews and at the same time promoting hits new album which features songs which undoubtedly have a humorous touch and leave a message to the Chilean audience.

He is not only a talented singer , but he also has the ability to compose music. This musician has developed many projects by himself and litle help with his friends.

He says ¨living as a musician has not been easy a tall I’ve had to use all any imagination and creativity to go on surviving and fighting for may passion, the music¨.

Due to the Chilean recording studios not living him any support. He created his own production staff and he says ¨I’m clear that the way to get a recording studios support is a long way and in not easy¨.

And he added ¨I made a quick decision the technology gives us the chance to record any where and you can make tour own edition¨.

And that was how El Miguel Sexual Democracia new DVD "Me creerás igual?" produced in Ailin Records. He says ¨evidently this studio has helped many new talent and if I can give support and become a sort of talent seeker , why not? They will save long years that I had to spend learning this¨.
